Behind the Camera

My work typically looks like commercial advertisements because I love the timelessness of fashion photography and stills from classic Hollywood films.  Dressed up or dressed down, that billboard style evokes a feeling the first time you see it.  That’s impact. It’s evocative locations, intentional composition, and the magic of lighting creating a visual language that last through the ages. 

Aside from being a long-time member of the Professional Photographer’s Association I was formally trained in Radio and Television Production and hold degrees in International Business and Relations.  All of that has allowed me to fulfill my passion for experiencing cultures across continents and time zones.  I’m like a global field producer stepping through creative concepts, scouting locations, handling logistics, and real-time directing talent, but I also have complete and absolute control of the camera.  It’s exhilarating.

To know me is to also know that I am constant with landscape and wild floral photography because they are immensely challenging and the backbone of my technical excellence. They force a skill you simply cannot get in studio. You have to instantaneously balance color, contrast, brightness, texture, background isolation and depth of field along with everything else - all and under the pressure of uncontrollable environments.  When you master it there is no room for errors, but plenty of space for flawless execution. 

My motto is “Don’t look at me but look with me”.  That type of reciprocity will leave this world a better a place.
